Morgan- we have Instant Issue in about half of our branches and for those branches who do not have an Instant Issue printer we print all new cards in back office same day and they are sent via regular USPS.  If a customer needs an expedited order, we charge $100 to send overnight via FedEx. 

 

The only cards we do not print in house are our re-issues for expiring cards, in which we send a monthly file to Thales for printing and mailing to customer.

We too had battled the costs of Fed Ex for expedited cards and decided to roll out instant issue in a few branches to combat it.  We also raised the fee for expedited cards to $100 as that was truly the cost we were absorbing after conducting analysis.  This way we can offer a customer the choice of visiting one of the instant issue branches to get a card.  So far, it has worked great and we are realizing a huge reduction in CPI /Fed Ex costs.  Admittedly, instant issue is not cheap but ultimately the cost per card also decreases so it is a win for both the bank and our customers. 

 

We still continue to use CPI for monthly bulk orders as well as for the branches who do not have a machine to order new cards.

Can anyone give me information on how their Financial Institution handles Debit Card orders?

 

We currently have a vendor we use to process a debit card order three days a week, and they utilize Fed Ex for the orders. If an order is requested to be expedited, the fees through Fed Ex are very pricey.

 

Do you charge your customers for expedited orders? How often do you send a card order out?
