Hi Carrie,

  1. Customers have a way to see their full number in our OLB or they can call us.
  2. We use the inquiry ID code, transaction history, or other information on file.  We follow the standard KYC best practices and use caution with SSNs.
  3. We didn’t give any warning and as far as I recall there wasn’t much in the way of complaints. We had more complaints from customers who wanted us to mask it before we started doing it.

Subject: SilverLake MA-RUG Question about Masking Account Numbers on Deposit Statements

I have a few questions about how other banks get by with masking account numbers on their DD7600P Deposit Statements. We already have most of the account numbers on our notices masked but have been printing full account numbers on our Deposit Statements thus far. We are wondering how much of an issue it will be for our customers to have to keep track of their own account numbers.

1)      How do customers obtain their account numbers when they can no longer find them on their

statements?

2)      What info is needed from a customer for a bank employee to give them an account number

at a branch or over the phone?

3)      How much warning was given to customers before you took the step to mask these account numbers?

Any input or advice on how to do this would be appreciated.
